Mockumentary Task

Last week, we learnt about the code and conventions of documentaries. Our task was to come up with an original idea for a 'mockumentary'.

In my group, we decided to critique pop culture trends, modern society, and the celebrity lifestyle. We wanted it to have the code and conventions of a real documentary and we wanted to make it visible that we were mocking the famous 'Vogue questions' as most celebrities portray an ideal and unreal lifestyle that is very much far away from reality, only for entertainment.

This task made me understand how documentaries are executed. We came up with an interview and practiced how to use the filming technique 'hand held'. We also learnt how to properly write a script as we spent one hour planning not only the shots and characters but also the sound, the script and everything that had do be done which definitely made the filming much easier.
